About Agency
The Security Information Agency (BIA) was established on the bases of the Law on the Security-Information Agency (Official Gazette of the RS, No. 42/2002, 111/2009, 65/2014 - Constitutional Court Decision, 66/2014 and 36/2018) which came into effect on July 27th, 2002, as a special organization of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, with legal entity status.
BIA is a civil, national security service and a part of a unique security-intelligence system of the Republic of Serbia. It functions on the bases and within the framework of the Constitution, laws, other regulations and general acts, national security strategy, defense strategy and defined security-intelligence policy of the Republic of Serbia.
Its primary mission is to protect the security of the Republic of Serbia, to detect and prevent the activities aimed at undermining or disrupting of constitutionally defined order of the Republic of Serbia, to research, process and assess the security- intelligence data and information significant for the security of the Republic of Serbia, to inform the competent state authorities on the said data, as well as to carry out other activities defined by the Law on BIA.
